Identify an implant from an X-ray

Upload a periapical X-ray in “Implant identification”. The AI estimates the implant's characteristics and suggests catalogue systems that match them.

  1. Open “Implant identification”.
  2. Choose “Upload X-ray”, or “Capture with your phone”: scan the QR code with your phone and point the camera at the monitor; the image transfers to the computer automatically.
  3. Use a periapical X-ray with the implant visible and in focus, in JPEG, PNG, WEBP or GIF, up to 10 MB. Export a DICOM file to JPEG or PNG in your X-ray software.
  4. If you know them, fill in “Country of placement” and “Estimated year”.
  5. Press “Start identification”.

The “AI Report” shows the “Extracted Characteristics” (Connection, Body, Apex and Confidence) and the “Candidate Models”, with “See components”.

“Confidence” tells you how well the AI was able to read the image; it does not tell you whether a candidate is the patient's implant. The candidate list is not sorted by similarity. When other clinics have already validated the same image, the “Community Memory” box appears.

Good to know

  • The AI does not give certainties: an X-ray always has some distortion. The result is an aid; the decision is clinical and is confirmed against the reference and the manufacturer's catalogue.
  • You can run up to 50 identifications per day, on any plan.
